Submerged Stormceptor®

The Submerged Stormceptor can accommodate a partially or fully submerged pipe application. Submergence is common in areas close to lakes, rivers, coastal areas and areas with high groundwater tables. The insert in these applications has a custom weir height and second drop pipe set at the existing water elevation. Both the weir height and the height of the second drop pipe are site specific depending on the level of submergence. The second drop pipe elevation corresponds to the actual submergence elevation while the weir is built to be 9” higher than the submergence elevation.

Submerged Stormceptor®

Uses & Applications

The Submerged Stormceptor® system removes total suspended solids, free oil, and other pollutants from stormwater run-off in partially submerged pipes.

Please be aware that all products are not available at every plant. Contact your local plant for specific project requirements.

The precast sections are manufactured in easy-to-assemble components and are available in the same sizes as the In-Line Stormceptor® (eight models, ranging from 72 inch to 144 inch diameter). A customized insert with the extended weir separates the upper and lower chambers.

High Flow

High Flow

  • Extended weir and second drop tee height are custom designed based on tailwater elevation.
  • Height of weir is set 9” above the standing water elevation.

Weir can be extended to a maximum of 45 inches from the outlet elevation (including the existing weir).

Inspect and maintain the Submerged Stormceptor® from the surface, without entry into the unit. Perform maintenance once stored volume reaches 15 percent of the Stormceptor® capacity, or immediately in the event of a spill.

Maintenance intervals vary depending on the application. Quarterly inspections should be during the first year of installation, so you can accurately establish a maintenance schedule.

Remove oil and sediment through the 24 inch diameter outlet riser pipe. Or you may remove floatables and hydrocarbons through the 6 inch oil inspection port.

Disposal requirements for pollutants captured are similar to that of any other Best Management Practice (BMP). Consult local guidelines or your local Stormceptor® Representative for additional information.
