Project Overview

The Humberstone residential development is a 102-unit townhouse development just east of Trafalgar Road and north of Maple Avenue in the quaint Town of Georgetown. This residential development is just north of the 401 and close to the Greater Toronto Area.

The contractor awarded this project was Pilen Construction of Canada Limited. This project included site serving, infrastructure, water storage, and water quality devices. The consultant specified PVC sanitary sewers. This was due to the deep installation of the sanitary line, a specially designed 375-diameter 250D reinforced concrete pipe was installed to eliminate structural concerns.

The Solution

A stormceptor EFO12 was specified on the project as well as other precast products such as catchbasins, maintenance holes, a water retention system, and other components.

The consultant specified a competitive product for water retention. Xstream by Rinker was accepted and provided a more cost-effective alternative for this project.

Multiple 3.0×1.8m box culvert units were used to create the Xstream water retention system. Pilen Construction of Canada Limited has a wonderful working relationship with Rinker and is familiar with the Xstream system and the installation. Because of the design of precast concrete pipe, this pipe is a structure when it arrives on the job site, there were no concerns with concrete pipe as a solution to the deep installation.
